      Chalk up some of the confusion over whether Ronaldinho is playing in the 2010 World Cup to a fantastic Nike commercial. Nike's "Football: Write the Future" ad campaign features the Brazilian star who plays for Italian powerhouse club AC Milan performing his latest new-and-amazing move, which, of course, is copied by everyone, including basketball great Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers. But in reality, Ronaldinho just wasn't good enough (or perhaps was too good) to make the final 23-man squad managed by former Brazil star Dunga. He decided to leave Ronaldinho at home for the cup (despite Nike's grandest marketing).

Fernando Torres: Pain is no barrier when it comes to Manchester United

   Fernando Torres has admitted that he played through the pain barrier to fire Liverpool to a crucial 2-0 victory over Manchester United.

A groin injury limited Torres to just two light training sessions last week and he was only told on the team coach to Anfield yesterday that he would start the game.

The gamble by manager Rafael Benitez paid off handsomely, though, as Torres struck the opener and David Ngog added a late second to end a run of four straight defeats.

    LONDON — Central defender John Terry will miss England’s Euro 2012 qualifier against Montenegro on Tuesday because of a back injury.
    The Football Association said in a statement on Sunday that Chelsea captain Terry had returned to his club after being assessed by England medical staff.

   The FA said Terry "will not be fit to play any part in Tuesday’s game against Montenegro. No further call-ups will be made at this time."
